Apr 18, 2018 | USMA

“In the first year I went from speaking for an Amazon gift card to a year later earning $5000 per keynote speech.” -Dave Swanson, USMA ’02

Dave Swanson (USMA ’02) is a keynote speaker, mentor, and the author of The Dot on the Left.  As a motivational speaker, he was a platoon leader that engaged in over 100 firefights while deployed to Sadr City, Iraq. Dave is a consummate leader that speaks and coaches with a sense of humor that reminds us that we all have the resiliency to overcome and do our absolute best.

In this episode, Dave and I discuss:

  • Why he got started in public speaking and how he got his first clients
  • His #1 tip for overcoming fear and delivering a great speech
  • How he uses stories about failure to connect with his audience
